Last year’s Blogging the City conference in Berlin, organized by Urbanophil and Architekturvideo, dealt with the rising of architectural and urban blogs. Blogs open new opportunities for civic engagement and participation, e.g. online petitions, collaborative protest and bottom-up-participation, as they multiply information worldwide, generate attention to innovative research projects and enable collaborative action.
Realizing that blogs generate more and more importance for urban planners and architects, several bloggers from Germany, Georgia and the Netherlands presented their concepts and actual projects. Additional innovative researchers, dealing with web-based technologies, provided a theoretical framework and gave a few ideas of how future planning could look like. The conference was a starting point for connecting important actors in the field of urban planning, city development and urban culture.
